The Last Cowboy Backyard

501 S 4th St

O'Neill, NE Last Runner Standing

Registration closes: Sat, Oct 18 @ 12:00 AM CT

THE LAST COWBOY

Ultraverse will be bringing Nebraska its first Backyard Ultra in 2025! THE LAST COWBOY BACKYARD.

• Each lap starts and ends at the community center in O’Neill, NE.

• We will utilize the Cowboy Trail as an out-and-back. This surface/trail is super flat, not technical at all, and conducive to racking up maximum mileage. This should lead to some BIG numbers, lots of PRs, and a ton of fun!

• Official Backyard Race – 4.17 miles every hour until there’s only one person left – no matter how long it takes! A new lap starts every hour on the hour. Everyone starts together, if you’re not in the coral at the start of the lap, you are eliminated. Like at Eternal Damnation, we will ring the gong to start each lap!

• Runners will get credit for the mileage they accumulate. We will have custom wooden plaques for all runners – their accumulated mileage will be burnt into the award on site.

• Indoor and outdoor crew areas!

• Beautiful custom buckle for the Last person standing. Acrylic awards for the last male and last female.

• 150-runner cap

Remember, this isn’t just about the last person standing! This is an opportunity for runners of all levels to come out and see how far they can go!

RULES

• Each runner is allowed a crew to assist them however is necessary between laps. Please keep crew to a maximum of 3. Additional spectators are welcome – just please keep from overcrowding the indoor space and outdoor crew area.

• For a full list of rules official Backyard rules check out https://backyardultra.com/rules/

• Littering = DQ

• No pacers, trekking poles, or help from crew anytime except between laps. You are also not allowed to receive any aid from ANYONE else (aside from crew) between laps. No warnings can be given – we must follow rules the Backyard rules exactly. Therefore, the first offense will lead to disqualification.

AGE REQUIREMENTS

Runners must be at least 15 years old to register. All runners under the age of 18 will be required to have a legal guardian onsite (as crew) for the duration of the race. If a legal guardian is not present the runner will not be allowed to start the current lap and will be eliminated. An additional waiver must be signed by a legal guardian at packet pickup for those under 18.

SWAG

All participants will receive a high-quality tri-blend t-shirt, and a custom wooden plaque with their accumulated mileage burnt in on site. The last male and female standing will receive custom acrylic awards. Finally, the winner will receive a beautiful custom belt buckle. Additional small freebie items will likely be included as well.

• You will earn credit for ANY Ultraverse Supplements race, rather than being limited to the race in which you cancelled/deferred.

• The credit will be attached to your Ultrasignup account and will automatically apply the next time you register for an Ultraverse Supplements event.

• Your credit appears in your registration history under "outstanding credits and coupons".

• Credit will be valid for one year, cannot be “gifted” to another runner, and you must use the same Ultrasignup account in which you originally registered for the race that you withdrew from.

CREW AREA & AID

CREW AREA & AID

• We will only provide water and Proxima C Endurance Fuel. Everything else is your responsibility to bring for yourself. You can bring your own food, coolers, etc. if you deem it necessary. Your crew can get whatever you need ready for you between laps. We assume that crew will be allowed grills in the Parking Lot, but we need to confirm this with the City of O’Neill.

• As mentioned in the rules, crew and aid are only acceptable between laps in the outside crew area (parking lot) or inside the community building. Any aid outside of these areas or outside of the time frame between laps will result in immediate, first-offense, disqualification. What is aid? Anything other than cheering – no taking anything (not even trash) or giving anything (not even a headlamp in the dark) once the lap is in progress.

• We will have two areas that runners can be crewed – outside directly by the start/finish arch and inside the community center. We will set up directly beside the entrance to the community center to allow for quick and easy access inside and out of the weather.

• There will be indoor flushing restrooms and porta potties in the lot.
