Fred's Story

Ultra runner Fred (Phred) Murolo had a running streak of almost 40 years when he was struck hard with COVID.  He spent 6 weeks in the hospital dealing with respiratory complications.  No matter what insurance you have, such an event is a huge financial setback, with uncovered expenses combined with unpaid time off of work.  Anyone who knows Fred knows he is a giving sort of guy.  Gentle, kind, down to earth, wise.  He is also eloquent, and has penned both the intro to my own book, Run To Save Your Life, as well as his own work of fiction "Running Home" (available on Amazon)  If you are lucky enough to have ever spent any time with Fred, you will know what a great guy he is.  Races include LAVS, 3DATF, VolState, Umstead, and TGNY to name but a few.  He is a co-host on the Cultra podcast as well as a member of the CT Trailmixers and West Rock Ramblers.  All of the proceeds from this race outside of race expenses are going to the Murolo family.

The Races....

Events begin May 1.  15K, 50K, 50M end May 31.  500K and 500M end June 30.  Results are self reported with Strava or other electronic  link for verification.

Phun Phifteen K... ($35)
Just a phun run.  15K will get you a Phive Phor Phred tech T.

Phriendly Phifty K ($45)
Just a little Phurther will get you a Phive Phor Phred T and a Phinisher's medal and the bragging rights of a 50K

Phantastic Phifty Miler ($55)
Bring it up to phifty miles for some extra phun!  Phirst phinishers of the 50M will receive a copy of Phred's book "Running Home" plus the shirt and medal.

Phierce Phive Hundred K ($75)
Vol State Distance!  Do 500K like Phred!  Phive hundred K runners will receive a finisher's buckle, and a shirt.  Phirst place winner will receive a copy of Fred's book "Running Home"

Pherocious Phive Hundred M ($100)
Not for the weak!  Phinishers will receive a phabulous phleece with race logo and a buckle.  Male and female winners will receive hand crafted stained glass trophies by artist Dave Lettieri.
