Cancelled Event
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Race Specifics - Fa La La La La!
WHEN IS THE EVENT: This is a virtual event. You may run with anyone you choose wherever you choose. You have from 8am on December 1st until 11:59 pm on December 31st to log your miles.
WHERE CAN YOU RUN: Treadmill, Trail, Track, Roads, be creative. No restrictions!
TWO DIVISIONS? Yes! There are TWO DIVISIONS. The first is your normal run of the mill 5k suckfest. Most ultrarunners hate 5ks because it causes you to burn up more fuel and oxygen then the last SpaceX rocket to blast off to the ISS. Additionally there is a 5,000 feet vertical gain option (just short of a mile of uphill).
RESULTS:
You will send your results to burcsresults@gmail.com with your finishing time in it. LAST NAME - Event - EVIDENCE in the subject line. If in the "Virtual 5k" you will just submit your finishing time with any proof you have. If in the "Just a Hill" 5,000 vertical feet division, you will send both your finishing time and distance. Some people may opt to do a longer run. Some might decide to bust their butt up and down Mt. Greylock or Mt. Washington a couple times. We will have a special award for the craziest courses. In terms of "rankings" for BOTH EVENTS, runners will be listed in order of finishing times. So the faster you cover the 5k (3.1 miles) or 5k - 5,000' vert, the higher up the rankings you get!**You will get +25 BURCS Points if you submit a selfie with you outside** Cool points for short shorts in December!
CAN YOU RUN ON A TREADMILL or STAIRCASE? Sure! For the 5,000' vertical - 1 flight = 10' of elevation. So just do 500 flights of stairs and then call it a day!
WHAT DO WE GET? Wally's adoration, RD fanboy for life, and a signature Ragged Cuts Christmas Ornament with a holiday BURCS Bear on it. Note: 5,000' vertical challenge finishers might also get a cool BURCS keychain so that you can shout your badassery to your local mechanic or when you lose your keys in the Whole Foods parking lot.
COST? The cost is low and we tried to keep it to under $20 including the fee to ultrasignup. We are not looking to fundraise for this one, just FUN RAISE. Let's join together and do something collectively during these uncertain times.
THIS EVENT is SPONSORED by BURCS. Since 2013, Berkshire Ultra Running Community for Service has organized ultramarathons benefiting non-profits and charities around Berkshire County and beyond. Proceeds are donated from each event.
NO REFUNDS.If you forget to run, or get scared by a jolly fat man or reindeer on your roof, or Timing Table Hecklers Christmas caroling, and choose not to finish, it's on you. Wally will send you a letter of condolence with the sketched image of your medal on a Santa stomach for failing to meet the minimum qualifications.
OTHER THAN THAT, let's share some celebration and holiday cheer!
**Please if choosing to run with others, social distance, mask up, and of course take a BADASS socially distanced selfie to share with us!**
