About the event
El Ascensor means “the elevator.” This race is aptly named because the race climbs and descends over 3600 ft. in only 5.6 miles. The race will start just up from the Wiki-up trailhead in Dry Creek Canyon. The canyon can be reached off highway 89 about 3 miles South of Afton. The start/finish area will be a couple hundred yards up the trail next to an old gravel hill. From here the race heads upward and southward for about a half of a mile before veering left on double track. Be watching for the flags that will take you left up the ridge-line. From here there is a mix of trails, game trails, and scrambling that will take you 3000+ feet up to the ridge. Here you will be above tree line and get to boulder hop across the length of the ridge to the south before descending to the finish a few miles later. Prepare the quads-this one is a scorcher. Eventually you will make it back to the double track. Stay left and hoof it down to the finish.
