About the Event

This is the third year of our trail running races at the Geer Park Trails in Cortez, Colorado. We will be hosting a 4 Mile race on April 14th, 2018. The race distance is approximate as GPS signals vary on these trails and there are lots of connecting sections, however, we recently re-mapped out the race course and it was exactly at 4.0 miles from the start line to the finish line. The race will begin at 9:30am. The race is on single track dirt trails and the course will be marked on race day. Each race is $20 for adults, with online sign up. There will be race day sign up for $25 cash. It will be a fun and competitive atmosphere for all ages. There will be awards for the top male and female finishers. All proceeds will benefit land conservancy and trails in Southwestern Colorado through Montezuma Land Conservancy.

Disclaimer- If the trails are wet or muddy, we will not be able to host the race in order to preserve the area and not damage the trail system. If that is the case, the race will be re-scheduled or entries can be transferred to another race in the future.

Race Information

The race on April 14th will start at 9:30 am. All races will begin at the trailhead of Geer Natural Area (25502 County Road L, Cortez, CO). Races are open to all ages and participants of varying abilities (run/walk). Age groups/categories will be based on the number of participants that sign up.

4 Mile Course

The race will begin at the edge of the road at the north trail head and go on the Revolution Trail up the hill. Racers will continue on Revolution until Day Tripper. Racers will complete the entire Day Tripper Loop. From there, racers will take a right and run along the fence line. From the fence line, racers will take the beginning of the Helter Skelter Trail down the hill (backwards from normal travel). From there, runners will meet up with the Revolution Trail and take the newer finish course back to the Start/Finish Line (this is the same ending as the 3 Mile Course).
