Lost in the Sauce is going virtual for 2020!
In 2019 we were flooded out of our preferred venue for Lost in the Sauce so we made a last-minute adjustment and had a great time. In 2020 we are following the guidance of health professionals and social distancing until at least April 30th to help mitigate the spread of this virus, so we’re going to make another last-minute adjustment and still do our best to host an event that will be a fun, positive experience for all involved.
How’s this going to look?
We cannot responsibly get together to run far at this point in time, so we’re going to run far separate from each other and then come together to celebrate at the end with a virtual happy hour. Those who would like to participate will register on UltraSignUp and will run their chosen distance during the specified dates. Once you run your distance, there will be an opportunity to submit the time that it took you to complete your run.
There will be hats, right?
Of course! Race hats are Crusty Cap’s signature. Josh and Emily will be making race hats and mailing them to each participant. The cost of the hat and shipping is included in the registration fee.
The first fifty runners who register by April 20th are guaranteed to receive their race caps by April 30th. Others will still receive a hat, but it may be a few days later.
When can I complete my run?
Any time between April 25th and April 30th
Where can I complete my run?
You can run anywhere you’d like to. You can run the Lost in the Sauce course in Salem, you can run around your town, you can run around your block. There are no requirements as to where you run this race or what the terrain looks like. Road, trail, track, or some combination of the three. It’s all good!
Please be responsible and respect the six foot social distancing protocol and respect any direction by your parks department or other local officials. We do not have permits at any park, so nothing is reserved for this event and you are operating as an individual while you complete this run.
What’s this about a happy hour?
Good question. This is the part we’re most excited about too. On May 1st at 6:00pm, participants are all invited to hop onto a zoom call with Josh and Emily with your favorite beverage in hand to chat about our runs and to connect with each other during this crazy time.
