What is it?

The term “Snap Dragon” comes from the cycling elimination style race, where the last rider to complete the loop is eliminated from the race.

The Snap Dragon Ultra will be run in a similar manner.

The Rules

1. A distance will be randomly selected at the start of the race.
2. After a distance is selected, a 5 minute timer will begin.
3. During these 5 minutes the runners can prep, stretch, gather supplies and do whatever else they need to do in order to prep for the distance that was drawn.
4. The Race Director will count down to the start of the lap.
5. All the runners will start at the same time.
6. Once a runner has completed the prescribed distance, the runner must immediately show the camera the mileage to be considered done. Treadmill, Strava, Garmin… everything is allowed. Just have a way to show it to the camera.
7. As soon as the second to last finisher completes the lap, a new distance will be drawn and a 5 minute timer will be started.
8. The very last runner to finish the lap is eliminated.
9. The cycle will continue till there is only one runner left.

*In the unlikely event of a tie, both runners can continue to the next round, but are competing against each other. Out of the two runners who tied, the slower runner will automatically be eliminated regardless of the actual finish. If both runners are 2nd to last and last in the next round, both runners will be eliminated. This means in the event of a tie, the next round will eliminate two runners.

Going the Distance

13.1 miles X 1 Entry
6.2 miles X 2 Entries
3.1 miles X 3 Entries
1 mile X 4 Entries
*After each draw, the mileage will be placed back into rotation so there is a 1/10 chance to get each item every single round.

Required Equipment

Access to Zoom either via phone or computer
A way to track your mileage (Strava on your phone, Garmin on your watch, a treadmill, doesn’t matter as long as you can show that you completed the distance)
A drive to inflict pain on yourself and others (The faster you run, the faster they have to run to stay in the race)

Please also note that these zoom conferences will be recorded.

Price

Pay whatever you want. I don’t think price should stop people from a very fun and probably a super competitive race to the finish. BEATCOVID2020 for a Free entry.

Shout Outs

With this being a virtual race, the main idea is to bring people together for a common cause. If you are a race director, tell us about your next race! If you run a business, tell everyone about it. If you run for a cause, share what keeps you moving.

Shout Outs will happen throughout the race. So bring what matters to you and let this supportive community lift you up! We are in this together.
