"I Feel Like I'm Losing My Rind"
Quarantine and Social Distancing is making for some weird experiences. Your schedule is already messed up. The kids are grumpy. The cat wonders why you won't ever leave the house. This is the event for you. Designed to completely mess with your sanity, leave all the decisions to the one and only Sir Wally Watermelon, Esquire. Will Lady Luck be on your side? Let the dice decide!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
4 WEEKS - 4 TERRAINS: Each week Wally Watermelon will roll two dice and multiply the dice together. (Ex: if 3 and 4 are rolled 3x4 is 12 miles. Or if 2x3 is rolled = 6 so you roll a third die )The total is the number of miles you need to run on that terrain that week. The catch: If it is less than 7 miles, then a third dice is rolled. The terrains? (Trail, Track, Road, and Treadmill/Vert. You will have to log an assigned amount of elevation in 1,000's of feet. (For Vert/Treadmill: You can run the rolled miles on treadmill or complete the vert as follows: 1-10 = 2,000', 11-20 = 3,000', 21-30' = 4,000', 31-35 = 5,000, 36 = 6,666'.) Bonus points if you do the vert on a treadmill! You can elect to hit the treadmill or find the nearest ski slope :). Every Wed. Night = dice roll.
2 DIVISIONS:
96 Hours: You must run all the assigned miles for the week on one day of your choosing.
744 Hours: Spread your assigned mileage out over the 7 days between Thursday at 12:01am and Wednesday at 11:59pm.
WHEN CAN I RUN?
At the time you register you must select whether you are going for the "All in one day approach" (96 hours) or the "Go as you please approach" (744 hours). Wally intentionally designed this knowing many don't read descriptions of races before they sign up. Many will choose 96 hours because they want to be done with it, not knowing that it is the harder of the two choices. (*insert evil Wally laugh here*). But you may run from 12:00am to 11:59:59pm to constitute a day. If you sign up for the 96 hour option, you must log all miles during the same calendar day, NOT a 24 hour period.
DO I HAVE TO RUN ON THE TERRAINS WALLY CHOOSES?
No I suppose you don't have to, but then again, if you fail to complete the 4 distances and 4 terrains, you fail to earn the coveted Ragged Cuts medal. It will be big. It will have all 4 terrains represented.
Opt for 744 hour go as you please? You get a simple woodburned medal with limited or NO colors.
Opt for 96 hours of torture, 4 days in the month to run your hearts out, you earn the FULL COLOR VERSION.

HOW DO I REPORT RESULTS?
You will submit strava/gps/time stamped/passenger pigeon message via an email to the Race Director at : burcsresults@gmail.com with the Subject Line: LASTNAME - Wally's Folly - EVIDENCE.
You will send ONE EMAIL EACH WEEK. There may also be a google form that we allow you to submit on (TBD)
Results will be checked and validated before medals are mailed out.
WHAT IF I DON'T FINISH THE WHOLE CHALLENGE? Answer? Wally will cut out the portions of the medal you failed to earn.
ARE THERE AWARDS?
Yes. Top 3 male and female will get an award from Wally and Stefan at Ragged cuts. It'll be sick and epic. Don't you worry about that.
REGISTRATION COSTS: $46; $22 of your registration goes to cost of medals and shipping to your door; the rest of your entry fee goes BURCS' Staple Charities (Moments House, Sonsini Animal Shelter, Louison House, etc.)

NO REFUNDS.If you forget to run, or get scared by ghosties or Timing Table Hecklers on Halloween, and choose not to finish, it's on you. Wally will send you a letter of condolence with the sketched image of your medal on a tombstone for failing to meet the minimum qualifications.
