Trade feet for heat at the R(un) for One!
What we lack in vertical we will make up for with plenty of heat, humidity, and hospitality! The Lifeline Children's Services R(un) for One will take over Choctaw Trails on Saturday, August 28, for a day of running the fantastic singletrack of Butts Park, starting and finishing on the beautiful Choctaw Trails XC course. This year we are adding 25k and 50k options to our annual 5k run and walk. The 25k and 50k will consist of multiple laps of the 5k course, passing back through the start/finish/aid area each lap.
We will provide water, a sports drink, and other nutrition at the start/finish line, which will be accessible at the end of each lap, but runners are welcome to set up your own aid, tents, coolers, chairs, etc. The course is not technical, has a few rolling hills, and is mostly shaded, but the August heat and humidity will provide plenty of challenge!
About the R(un) for One
Started in 2011, the R(un) for One 5K is a family-friendly annual event where Lifeline Children’s Services' alumni families, friends, advocates and community partners gather together to raise awareness and funding for vulnerable children around the world. Through (un)adopted®, Lifeline’s international orphan care ministry, vulnerable children are receiving love and care, enrolling in schools, learning life skills and hearing the hope of the gospel. Each year’s run focuses on a different country where (un)adopted serves. This year’s run will highlight the country of Liberia.
100% of the proceeds will benefit (un)adopted's work around the world. This varies in each of the 16+ countries where (un)adopted serves, but a few things remain priority — making the name of Jesus known and empowering the local church to care for the more than 140 million children that are fatherless.
(un)adopted provides international churches with necessary resources and trainings to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of vulnerable children in their community. By empowering the local church and community to care for the vulnerable, (un)adopted seeks to holistically care for children in their physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs. Through this work, stories are redeemed, lives are transformed, and the gospel is made known.
