Welcome to the Pearlgate Enduro Track 12/6, proudly presented by Pearlgate Track and Field.
Timed track events are widely popular in US and Europe and PGTF is thrilled to bring one to Newfoundland and Labrador as a fundraiser to support our Club.
The format is simple, sign up to run up to 12 hours or 6 hours - most loops completed around the track wins.
This will a chip tracked event. You will be able to establish a camp area on the infield. Washroom facilities are available on site. Their are bleachers for friends and family to cheer you from.
Format
The Pearlgate Enduro Track 12/6 is a timed ultramarathon competition featuring simultaneous 12-hour and 6-hour races held on a certified 400-meter outdoor track. Whether you're chasing a personal best, a national qualifying standard, or testing your mental and physical limits, this event offers the perfect environment for sustained performance and support.
• 12-Hour Race: Runners aim to cover the greatest possible distance within 12 continuous hours.
• 6-Hour Race: Runners aim to cover the greatest possible distance within 6 continuous hours.
• Both events will start at the same time, and take place entirely on a 400-meter track.
Recognition 50KM, 50 Miles, 100 KM, and 100 Mile achievements.
Support & Crew
Crew/Support
• Aid stations are usually set up off the track but adjacent to the running lane, often in lane 3 or beyond - final direction will be provided before race day.
• Crew access is allowed but must not obstruct other runners.
• Runners must stay within the designated track area (no short-cutting across the infield).
• Personal support is allowed only in designated areas.
Race Conduct & Safety
• Runners must not interfere with others; unsportsmanlike behavior can result in disqualification.
• Medical personnel will be available throughout the event.
• Race officials may withdraw a runner for medical reasons.
• Alcohol is prohibited during competition.
Direction Changes
Direction changes are standard and IAU rules and help balance biomechanical strain on joints, tendons, and muscles.
• The direction will change at least every 4 hours - stating with clockwise from the start.
• The change will be coordinated and clearly communicated to all runners and officials.
• Direction changes are allowed only at predefined times, and must be documented in the event's race plan.
Direction change guidance:
Pre-Warn Runners:
• Announce the change 5-10 minutes before it happens via PA system or horn/whistle.
• Repeat announcement, ask runners to complete their current lap.
Designated Change Point:
• At the start/finish/timing mat (front stretch of track)
• Officials pause lap counting momentarily.
Organized Execution:
• At the change time, runners complete their current lap, then switch to the opposite direction.
• Volunteers and signage/horn help guide the change.
Resuming Lap Counting:
• Timing resumes once the runner crosses the mat in the new direction.
