Aspen Backcountry Returns
The Aspen Backcountry Marathons will return on August 2, 2025 and now includes a 50 Kilometer distance to compliment the marathon and "heavy half" marathon! After not hosting the event in 2024, the race will now be produced by Aravaipa Running and will continue to be hosted next to the Duck Derby fundraising event held annually by the Rotary Club Aspen.
We're extremely excited to be able to host this race and revive the backcountry marathons for the local Colorado community and hope to see you in Aspen!
Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue (CORSAR)
Pitkin County requires that all participants obtain a valid CORSAR card for the day of the event. Racers must present their CORSAR card at packet pickup in order to receive your bib. If you possess a Colorado hunting or fishing license, it acts as the same.
Colorado residents and visitors are well served by dedicated non-paid professional search and rescue teams. By purchasing a CORSAR Card you are contributing to the Search and Rescue Fund, which will reimburse these teams for costs incurred in searches and rescues across the State of Colorado. The CORSAR card is available for $5.00 for a one-year card and $20.00 for a five-year card.
